"Three Gorges: Biggest Dam in the World"

Discovery Channel Video
52 minutes
#724195
$19.95

Narrated by our favorite closet-case, Jodie Foster, this documentary investigates the monumental Three Gorges Dam project. The Chinese have begun building the dam in attempt to tame the mighty Yangtze River.

"The dam will be the world's largest concrete structure. It is slated to be 650 ft. high, 2 + miles across, and will create a reservoir 400 miles long. It will use more material than 44 great pyramids, require 2500 people, cost up to 70 billion dollars and its hydroelectric generator will produce the equivalent of 15 nuclear reactors."

It also could potentially threaten the lives of millions. The potential of a dam break presents the very real possibility of a catastrophic event. This documentary provides and excellent overview of all the technical information, environmental concerns, controversy, and potential consequences of this project.

"Bill Moyers NOW: Kids and Chemicals"   A magnificent show outlining how industrial pollutants are effecting our children, how little industry is doing to stop it, and how much the present administration in Washington D.C. is helping industry to poison our kids by appointing people with ties to industry to the key environmental positions in government which are ostensibly there to protect us from those industries. Can you say kickbacks? Oh no, that's right, they're called "campaign contributions...."
